# FreshFact

FreshFact creates audit-ready web evidence receipts for software agents over x402. Each receipt identifies the exact normalized text delivered, provides citation offsets and section hashes, and records source provenance and retrieval time. Sources may serve cached copies; sourceCacheAgeSeconds reports the upstream cache age when available, while retrievedAt is the retrieval timestamp. FreshFact requests cache revalidation but cannot guarantee the source honors it.

Available: POST /api/verify ($0.03) accepts claim and urls; POST /api/research ($0.05) accepts query. Verify finds related passages in supplied public pages; Research searches English Wikipedia. Neither is a truth verdict.

Returns a unique receipt ID, clean page text, citation-ready section offsets and hashes, title, description, canonical URL, published/modified dates when available, HTTP freshness headers, redirect chain, word count, SHA-256 content hash, source URL and retrieval timestamp.
When active, FreshFact prepares and validates the complete deliverable before requesting x402 payment. Invalid or unusable sources are rejected without requesting payment.
